Diversity and development of cyanobacteria in the Volga-Caspian sea

Studying the development of such an important group as cyanobacteria is an integral part of environmental monitoring of the Volga-Caspian region. Based on long-term data, a comparative description of the current state of the group of cyanobacteria of the Volga-Caspian region is indicated. The degree of similarity of marine and river species of the group of cyanobacteria for sections of the Volga River, Northern and Middle Caspian Sea was determined.

Status and Species Diversity of Community Landscape of the Central Part of the City of Saratov

We would like to provide results of examination of community landscape at four landmarks located in the central part of the city of Saratov (Detskiy Park and three parkways: at Rakhova street, Astrakhanskaya street and Kosmonavtov embankment). The list of diverse species of trees and shrubs includes 58 species from 38 geni and 20 families. We have found out that species diversity of general purpose community landscapes increases gradually. We have studied biometric parameters of the trees (height, trunk diameter, crown diameter) and their life status.

Exopolysaccharide-Producing Halophilic and Halotolerant Microorganisms Isolated from the Saline Lakes Qarun (Egypt) and Elton (Russia)

Microorganisms inhabiting saline environments can produce compounds unique in structure and properties. This ability recently prompted researchers to study the biotechnological potential of halophiles. This work aimed at screening the exopolysaccharideproducing halophilic and halotolerant microorganisms of two saline lakes, one in in Egypt and the other in Russia. For strain isolation and characterization, we used microbiological and physico-chemical methods, as well as light and transmission electron microscopy.
