iodine

Article Establishment of the structure of hydrate-solvate complexes of iodine extracted from model aqueous solutions in the system I2 – NaCl – Н2О – tributylphosphate /isooctane

The equilibrium parameters of the extraction of iodine from aqueous model solutions of various compositions have been determined and the infl uence of the background mineralization of the raffi nate has been revealed. The eff ect of the isooctane/tributylphosphate (TBP) ratio on the extraction of iodine from aqueous solutions with diff erent ionic strengths has been determined by the isomolar series method. The hypothetical composition of hydrate-solvate complexes has been established both experimentally and using computer modeling tools.

NEW METHOD OF APPROACH TO PROBLEMOF EXTRACTION OF THE LODINE FROM NATURALMINERAL SOURCES

New way, allowing extract the iodine from natural sources without their preliminary acidification, is described in the paper. The method is based on using the ion reactions and method of liquid-phases emulsion membrane extraction, with using quaternary ammonium compounds as extragent of iodide. Experimental data, gotten in the course of undertaking work, enable to application of the described technology to production.

Determination of the content of iodine, iodides and iodates in food products

Currently iodine defi ciency diseases are one of the most important medical and social problems. In this regard, the purpose of the study is to determine the content of iodine, iodides, iodates in iodized salt, drinking and mineral water, seaweed, to determine the stability of the iodine content in salt. For the qualitative determination of iodides and iodates ions in salts and molecular iodine in seaweed, an iodine starch reaction has been carried out.
