Evaluation of the sorption properties of coastal sands in relation to emulsified petroleum products

The sorption properties of some sands selected in the coastal zones of economically important, but at the same time ecologically oppressed territories of Vietnam are considered. The purpose of the research is to assess the absorption capacity of sands in relation to emulsifi ed petroleum products, to identify their ecological role in typical situations of spillage of small amounts of toxic substances. It is shown that the sorption qualities of the sands depend on the location of the sands, their geochemical and granulometric heterogeneity.

Unlike antibiotics and heavy metals, nucleic acids exist in the aquatic environment as a part of prokaryotic and eukaryotic microorganisms (bacteria, fungi, etc.) rather than in a free form. In this regard, the most important primary stage of sample preparation of an object for the quantitative analysis of DNA and RNA in natural and wastewaters includes membrane ultrafi ltration of an aqueous sample, followed by its sorption preconcentration on a solid phase carrier.

Sorption-fluorimetric Determination of Enrofloxacin with Magnetite Nanoparticles Modified by Polyethylenimine

A technology for magnetite nanoparticles surface modification by polyethylenimine was proposed. The sizes of the nanoparticles using transmittance microscopy method were determined. The influence of pH, time of mixing, sorbent and antibiotic concentration on the enrofloxacin sorption was investigated and optimal conditions of extraction were found.

Competitive Binding of K+ in the Presence of Na+ with Bovine Serum Albumin and Hemoglobin

Selective accumulation of monovalent cations K+, Na+, Rb+, Cs+ with albumin and hemoglobin is shown. Preferential sorption of potassium in the presence of sodium with test proteins is determined. It is shown that with increasing concentrations of sodium in the composition of aqueous solutions of the proteins, the amount of potassium bound by proteins increases.

Preconcentration of Е110 and Е124 Food Azodyes on Magnetite Nanoparticles Modified by CTAB

Synthetic azodyes are widely used in paint, textile, plastic, and food, beverage, and leather, cosmetic, pharmaceutical and paper industries to make products more visually attractive to consumers. Therefore, they are also the components of waste waters and should be removed due to their potential risk to human health. Many techniques have been employed to eliminate dyes from waste water and do to preconcen- tration before analysis in food or beverage objects.

Studying of Sorption Methylene Blue Onto Glauconite

Sorptive properties of a natural mineral glauconite towards methylene blue were studied and a composite of both substances was obtained. Antibacterial activity of the composite has been assessed against Staphylococcus aureus FDA 209P. An enriched fraction of natural glauconite was obtained by method of magnetic separation. Surface morphology of the glauconite was examined with scanning electron microscopy. The elemental composition was investigated using energy-dispersive microanalysis and roentgen fluorimetry, the texture – using Brunauer–Emmett–Teller analysis.

Synthesis of Magnetic Sorbents Based on Magnetite Nanoparticles and Humic Acids and Their Application for Sorption of Phenolic Ecotoxicants

Fe3O4 nanoparticles coated with humic acids isolated from chernozem, sapropel, peat and brown coal were obtained using hydrothermal synthesis. The properties of the obtained sorbents were carried out using IR spectroscopy, SEM and TEM, whereas saturation magnetization was established using a vibration magnetometer. The maximum content of nitrogen-containing groups was found in humic acids obtained from sapropel, while the minimum amount was found in brown coal. The sorption properties of these polymers were checked among 12 different phenols.

Adsorption of organic reagents by natural bentonites modified with aluminum and iron (III) polyhydroxocations

The effective nanostructured sorbents based on natural bentonite modified with aluminum and iron (III) polyhydroxocations were obtained. The elemental composition of the obtained sorbents was studied. The specific surface area was determined for the studied samples. It was shown that modified sorbents based on natural bentonite were nanostructured objects. IR spectroscopy showed that modification of natural bentonite led to the changes in its structural properties.

Antibacterial properties of a biologically active composite based on glauconite

Glauconite, a natural aluminosilicate, exhibits good sorption properties, is an affordable, cheap material, and has the prospect of being used in construction, ecology, medicine, cosmetology, animal husbandry, poultry farming, agriculture, etc. An urgent task is to study the sorption activity of glauconite in the Beloozersky deposit in the Saratov region in relation to biologically active substances for the creation of antimicrobial composites. The elemental composition and surface morphology of glauconite grains are determined.
