Synthesis and Luminescence Studies of Terbium Complex with 2,6-dibenzylidenecyclohexanone

Novel complex of terbium (III) with aromatic monoketone – 2,6-dibenzylidenecyclohexanone – has been synthesized. Its uncharacteristic luminescent properties have been studied using quantum chemical calculations and lumiscent spectroscopy.

Quantum-chemical Evaluation of Thermal Stability of Some Lanthanide Complexes with Methoxybenzoate

Structural and energetic parameters of neodymium, europium, terbium and erbium complexes with 2- and 3-methoxybenzoic and 3,4-dimethoxybenzoic acids were studied. Correlation between Ln-O bond energy and temperatures of decomposition of studied compounds was found.

Quantum Chemical Studies of Potential Associates in Europium (III) Alginate Solutions

Metal-alginate complexes (especially, lanthanide gels) are particularly interesting for medical and biological analysis due to their luminescent properties upon UV light excitation. Unfortunately, synthesis and further physical and chemical studies of such complexes is inhibited by their high cost. However, this problem can be solved by using quantum chemical methods to predict potential properties of lanthanide alginates based on the results of their geometry optimization and electronic structure calculation.

Quantum-chemical Studies of Several Lanthanide Compounds with Products of Starch Thermal Decomposition

Lanthanide complexes with organic ligands (including hydrocarbons) find application in medicien as luminescent biomarkers for various pathogenic bacteria. At the same time, starch (as a polysaccharide) can serve as a source for carbon nanoparticles (via thermal decomposition) that have very intensive and longliving luminescence, thus such nanoparticles conjunctioned with lanthanides may be used to create more effective medical probes.
